Job Description

Role Summary:

The candidate will work as part of a global team that is responsible for managing the infrastructure (server, storage, network, data center) of the High Performance Compute (HPC) Grid environment. The role requires a well-organized individual who is able to manage and improve processes with a high volume of work. The candidate must have the excellent communication skills required for engaging internal customers, as well as colleagues in the global integration, engineering and operations teams. The candidate must have capability to manage a mixed workload that includes technical consultancy, delivering technical solutions and managing to deadlines.

3-5 years of experience in a distributed systems environment within a large organization and a broad technical knowledge with a background in Linux operating systems is required. Financial services industry and/or HPC/Grid Infrastructure experience is preferred.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

* Analyze configuration of on-premise infrastructure components for high efficiency and optimal utilization


* Define, monitor and present KPIs and metrics relevant to infrastructure utilization and present opportunities for optimizations


* Assist in multi-layered (operating system, network, storage, middleware processes and sub-processes) troubleshooting of infrastructure performance concerns


* Collaborate with engineering teams on configuration and tooling development activities


* Collaborate with engineering and operations teams for evaluations of new hardware/software


* Collaborate with Cloud COE for PoCs, new feature evaluations, and performance monitoring



Work with global operations, engineering and integration teams

Technical skills required for this position:

* Intermediate-to-Advanced Linux user level experience


* TCP/IP Networking and switched Ethernet topology, troubleshooting, and monitoring knowledge and experience, including an intermediate level knowledge of network protocols (ROUTE 53, IPv4, TCP/IP, UDP)


* Network, SAN , NAS and Linux infrastructure configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring knowledge and experience


* Basic-to-intermediate level understanding and experience with security protocols (ssh, Kerberos, firewalls, port forwarding, VPCs)


* Experience with Platform as a Service (Paas) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) implementation using Docker/Kubernetes


* Experience with provisioning, maintaining, and monitoring resources on-premises and in the major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud)


* Technical consultancy skills to be able to explain complex technical solutions to customers


* Experience with JIRA for maintaining product backlog, issue tracking, retrospectives


* Ability to use Microsoft applications: Word (process documentation), Excel (data analysis and pivot tables for data driven decisions), Project (create and maintain project plans), and Outlook
