Job Description

Custom Computer Specialists, Inc. seeks self-motivated Support Engineer to work with the Network Operating Center team in the Managed Services Division. The NOC engineer will primarily be responsible for answering calls and working on tickets in a level 2 capacity. Calls and Tickets will vary across the Windows OS and Network Infrastructure platforms. The Network Operating Center is located in Hauppauge, NY.

Responsibilities:

* Help clients resolve desktop and infrastructure issues over the phone and in generated tickets.
* Address escalation issues for Windows OS and Network infrastructure issues from level 1.
* Manage Windows servers in a virtualized platform, including VMware ESX.
* Work with storage systems, SAN, Logical Volume Manager and management tools
* Provide patching for servers for security vulnerabilities
* Independently troubleshoot LAN/WAN networking problems at all layers.
* Manage and maintain network add/move/changes across different client networks.
* Conduct network studies and performance analysis, and recommend changes.
* Participate in the design of new projects as needed.
* Perform scheduled proactive network testing to ensure network is functional and reliable.

Qualifications:

Candidates must meet all the requirements below to be considered for the position:

* 3-5 years of experience working on Windows OS 2008+ in a large scale environment.
* Operational experience with Cisco networking and security - routers, switches, IPS, ACS and firewalls.
* Experience working with virtual infrastructure (virtualization required)
* Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPSec, HSRP, and SNMP protocols.
* Working knowledge of VLANs, IP subnets, routing, switching, access lists and traffic shaping.
* The ability to write shell scripts and utility programs for Windows system maintenance and create scripts in support of the automation of system administration tasks is also a plus.
* The following certifications or equivalent work experience is required:
* MCSA
* MCSE
* VCP


* This position is based in Hauppauge, NY with travel through Nassau County, New York City and parts of Suffolk County.
* Access to a vehicle daily (required)
* Participation is a rotating on-call after hours support program is required.
* To be successful in this position, the candidate must also display excellent teamwork skills, written and oral communication skills, and formal documentation skills.
