Job Description

The purpose of this work is to acquire an integrated hardware solution and professional Information Technology (IT) services for providing secure, highly available, enterprise HPC services, systems architecture, integration, and consulting services to clients served by the customer.

Position duties:

The HPC Systems Administrator will perform the daily activities of supervising and managing configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based. The candidate will be expected to perform the optimizing of system operation and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning. In addition, the candidate is expected to provide assistance to users in accessing and using business systems. The HPC Systems Administrators will fulfil a role as a technical leader to implement solutions to current problems and future deficiencies in the HPC environment in conjunction with junior and senior administrators and technical members of other HPC teams.

Routine duties include:

* High-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
* Coordination, direction and performing complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
* Scheduling installations and upgrades and maintaining them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
* Continually monitoring and tuning multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
* Ensuring workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
* Ensuring data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
* Planning and implementing the modernization of servers.
* Developing, implementing and promoting standard operating procedures and schedules.
* Conducting hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
* Developing and implementing new standards, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in IT, Science or Engineering, and nine (9) years or more of IT/HPC experience; Master's degree and seven (7) years more of IT/HPC experience;
* Minimum five (5) years applicable experience in RedHat 6 or 7 with RedHat Certification
* Extensive knowledge and experience with building, configuration and administration of Linux computer systems.
* Experience with change management systems and scheduling system maintenance in coordination with multiple stakeholders
* Extensive knowledge of the Linux computer operating system.
* Extensive experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing hardware failures to component level on servers; coordinates with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
* Ability to produce complete documentation on all site-specific configuration modifications.
* Knowledge and experience with scripting in Perl, Bash or Python.
* Experience with system performance monitoring and tuning in an HPC cluster environment (e.g., Collectd, Ganglia, Sysstat).
* Must be able to obtain a public trust security clearance.

Desired Education and Qualifications

* Masters degree is desired.
* Experience in programming languages such as C/C++, etc.
* Working knowledge of networking concepts and technology such as Ethernet, InfiniBand and Fibre channel.
* In depth understanding of TCP/IP networking, basic routing, and network services
