Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for the knowledge and experience necessary to be able to design, build, support, maintain and progress the network environment that delivers critical service to AT&T internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery in the areas of networking, security, collaboration, virtualization, datacenters, and systems best practices. The network engineer will be expected to design solutions to meet or exceed industry auditing and compliance standards.

Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and document standards for network architecture and plan the total network integration. Evaluates complex existing networks systems and makes recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. Specify, evaluate, order, and coordinate the installation of network hardware and software. Responsible for recommending solutions to performance, tuning, and capacity issues. Provide network performance and capacity consulting for new application projects. Create technical white papers and enterprise architecture plans for the enterprise data network environment. Provide tier 2/3 technical support and consultation to operations and engineering; troubleshoot network, server, and client based communication related problems across multiple platforms. Perform hands-on network design, implementation, support and troubleshooting. Create detailed documentation and diagrams. Stay up to date on emerging technologies and products. Provide clear communication with regular update/reports to the both manager and project managers. Weekend and on-call work when necessary.

Minimum of 5 years routing, switching, firewall, security and dynamic routing protocols experience. Familiar with monitoring and management systems, such as CA IM & Solarwinds. Work with various stake holders to lead problem solving, evolve system roadmap and take critical decisions. Knowledge of cloud/virtualization technologies, such as VMware vSphere/vCloud, Hyper-V. Industry certification - CCIE is preferred. However, minimum of CCNP level certification in Routing/Switching or Security. Related 4-year degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Security+ certification and/or understanding of security best practices in the cloud and Linux environments-Risk Management Function (RMF) experience a plus. Ability to complete large and complex projects independently. Ability to write tutorials/documentation. Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
