Location: Southlake, TX

Duration: 12 Months

Job Description

Resident Engineer - Security - SRX - Southlake Texas

* SRX Security expert with expert level knowledge of the SRX high end platforms i.e. SRX5800, SRX3600 as well as Netscreen ISG1000 and ISG2000 at the hardware Level, and they should understand what and how many cards are in the device and their functions
* Architecture level understanding of the packet flow is highly desirable.

Be able to configure, operate and troubleshoot the above mentioned platforms.

Responsibilities

* Understand the customer's organizational structure and become familiar with the customer's network implementation and support processes and procedures.
* Carry out testing of new features and functionality required by the customer in a laboratory environment and to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network.
* Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the live network.
* Troubleshoot equipment and network problems and to open and track JTAC cases through to problem resolution.
* Raise equipment Return to Manufacturer Authorizations (or Return Materials Authorization) (RMAs) and to track these through to problem resolution.
* Produce a written summary report of the status of equipment and network problems on a regular basis to the customer.
* Hold technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems, and to provide case status updates, including the reasons for any problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried.
* Train the customer's design, implementation and support personnel to configure and operate the Juniper Networks products.
* Assist the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures.

Skills and Experience:

* Experience in providing in-depth design and technical support of Network Security Products
* Experience in managing large technical account activity revolving around Network Security products from any vendor
* Formal product training on SRX and NetScreen Firewall products as well as some level of technical certification on security products is desired. Additional training can be provided but these fundamentals are expected at the onset of the engagement
* Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of high-end firewalls and ideally Juniper networks Security products
* Routing experience with OSPF or BGP and an understanding of the concepts and guidelines behind traditional security system design
* Experience working on a large-scale Service Provider network a plus
* Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks
* Candidate should have extensive experience with traffic generating tools like Ixia and Breaking Point to be able to test Juniper security products.
* Candidate should have worked on the SRX high end platforms i.e. SRX5800 and SRX3600 and Netscreen ISG1000 and ISG2000 at the hardware level.
* Previous hardware or software testing experience a plus
* Strong Interpersonal skills and a team player
* Excellent oral and written skills required
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
* Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of Cisco, Ericsson, Juniper, Alcatel Lucent, and/or Nokia/Siemens Products a plus
* Knowledge of Python/Perl is desirable.
