The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Infrastructure Management & Support Services (IMSS) program supports the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection in protecting consumers and enforcing consumer protection laws through a set of integrated Information Technology (IT) services. This Task Order will help ensure the effective operations and maintenance of the Information Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure. Based in Washington D.C, the engineering professional will function independently through the Engineering organization to define, implement, and maintain agency's network environment and its performance standards. Candidate will also support investigations, propose and assist in implementing improvements in process efficiencies and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) compliance, as well as infrastructure modernization through technology and cloud services.

Primary Responsibilities

* Design, implement, and support WAN, LAN, and WLAN environment. This includes routers, firewalls, security, wireless, and LAN switching.
* Manage load balancing (including DNS/DHCP/IP).
* Provide remote access solution support (VPN, Terminal Services).
* Perform remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications.
* Run application performance and packet analysis.
* Work with emerging technologies such as SD-WAN or Data Center products.
* Manage vendors; perform network assessments and security audits.
* Document existing systems architecture and technology portfolio.
* Recommend improvements and/or alternatives for existing systems.
* Facilitate, lead and document meetings and discussions.
* Support internal run and maintain activities, including remote monitoring and management system, respond to alerts, monitor health and seek improvement opportunities.
* Mentor and coach junior team members; continuously develop your skills and knowledge.
* Act as a liaison between IT management, Engineering and Operations.

Basic Qualifications

* Requires a BS degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience in information technology, computer science or related field.
* Experience with Switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN's), Routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), WAN Technologies (MPLS, VPLS, VPN) and Security (Cisco Firewalls, IPS).
* Familiarity with VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, Cisco Wireless Deployments, SD-WAN, Cisco Data Center Switching, Security methodology, Load Balancing, VMware, Citrix and network monitor tools.
* Knowledge of Lean/Continuous Service Improvement.
* Experience with SD-WAN design, deployment, and support.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to troubleshoot issues using network analysis tools such as SolarWinds.
* Strong customer service focus and experience with end users.

Preferred Qualifications

* 5+ years experience with NetApp SAN design, implementation and administration a plus.
* Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent experience with daily support of Cisco infrastructure.
* Experience with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure.
