Network Engineer

Key Role:

Plan, support, and evaluate complex existing network systems and make recommendations for resources required to maintain or expand service levels. Provide monthly metrics for network availability and bandwidth usage and other metrics, as requested. Maintain responsibility for network capacity planning. Use network management tools to discover, map, and maintain the network. Maintain responsibility for network equipment OS and version upgrades. Maintain responsibility for conducting research of new technologies and implementation strategies. Monitor and maintain network interfaces to insure its highest level of performance and makes modifications and enhancements, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

* Experience with providing highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture
* Experience with planning and incorporating how new network resources and applications will exist on the network
* Ability to provide and develop technical standards and interface applications, identify and evaluate new products, and provide solutions for network problems
* Ability to document procedures and keeping network diagrams and related material up-to-date
* Ability to obtain a security clearance
* HS diploma or GED and 13+ years of experience with providing network support and engineering or BA or BS degree in CS, Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or Technology and 5+ years of experience with providing network support and engineering

Additional Qualifications:

* Experience with the VA
* Public Trust clearance
