Job Overview The candidate is expected to directly participate in team design activities, studying design issues related to the latest multimedia/edge/5G system/5G core features and working on innovative solutions to them. The candidate is also expected to develop technical contributions based on those designs, give high quality presentations of them in MPEG, 3GPP, or other relevant SDOs, to obtain consensus, and proactively promote Qualcomm wireless multimedia technologies. Attendance to relevant MPEG, 3GPP, or other SDO working groups may be part of the job. Consequently, the candidate is expected to be available to occasionally travel for week-long meetings (on average 4 to 6 meetings per year are to be expected, distributed between Europe, North America and Asia). The candidate will operate in collaboration with different business units within the company, including research projects and product groups in San Diego. The candidate will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines. The Standards team is seeking a Multimedia System Engineer with demonstrated experience in wireless multimedia system design and standardization, with a focus on advanced multimedia services, applications, and platforms. The focus of the job includes design and standardization of systems aspects for multimedia services, applications, and platforms over 5G and edge systems, including transport, content delivery, control, 3D graphics, and XR aspects. Solid understanding of multimedia systems Experience in wireless multimedia system design is preferred. Experience in standardization working groups is preferable, especially in MPEG, 3GPP SA4, and possibly Khronos. Experience in multimedia edge architectures and standardization is a plus.
