SAIC is looking for a well-qualified Modeling and Simulation Analyst to join an exciting program in Springfield, VA. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a willingness to learn. Job responsibilities include conducting applied systems engineering analysis in the area of underwater acoustics and modeling and simulation in the maritime domain; development of analytical methodologies and running appropriate models and simulations to evaluate, visualize, and communicate innovative data-driven solutions to complex problems; supporting design, development, testing, integration, and operational planning efforts for special-purpose advanced maritime systems, both fixed and mobile; and researching , designing, and conducting a wide range of utility analyses and systems engineering trade studies to inform concept of operations development and customer resourcing decisions.
Primary tasks include:
* Physics-based underwater acoustic propagation modeling and SONAR equation calculations using a combination of in-house tools and COTS/GOTS software to evaluate sensor performance predictions;
* Dynamic simulation modeling of multi-faceted operational scenarios using a combination of in-house tools and COTS/GOTS software to identify sensitivities related to autonomous vehicle performance;
* Development and execution of study plans;
* Recommend changes to projects as necessary and resolve technical problems;
* Collaborate with project officers and partner organizations to validate modeling scenarios;
* Develop and maintain custom databases relevant to modeling tasks;
* Maintain configuration management control of applicable software tools;
* Develop georeferenced data visualization products to convey modeling/simulation results
* Provide subject matter expertise in the mathematical modeling of physical processes, including underwater acoustics;
* Attend technical meetings, design reviews, and conferences as necessary to support project officers;
* Identify and assess technologies, levels of maturity, and applicability to customer objectives
* An active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (TS/SCI) * The ability to complete a counter-intelligence scope polygraph (CSP) * Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, operations research, or computer science * Shall have 9 years of experience providing technical support for DoD and/or IC Project Managers * Shall have 2 years of experience with modeling tools and methodologies and/or underwater acoustics * Shall have 2 years of experience in the preparation and briefing of technical material to senior-level audiences * Shall have proficiency in MATLAB and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
