Job Description

Introduction:

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Military Systems Data Analyst.

Job Summary: In this role, you will work with our team to support the assessment of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force strategic missions. In addition, you will evaluate assessment data received from the Navy and Air Force to determine the overall readiness of the entire enterprise and perform analysis in support of the test and evaluation of the nuclear triad.

Duties:

* Develop assessment metrics, thresholds, and mapping to strategic mission key performance indicators. Interface with U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs and U.S. Air Force A10, Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration Office, to validate Navy and Air Force Command assessments against defined requirements and thresholds. (35%)


* Develop and utilize analysis tools to integrate assessment results to provide comprehensive readiness status reports. Maintain historical assessments to identify common drivers of unsatisfactory performance as well as trends or potential indications of impending problems. (35%)


* Perform system-level analysis of Trident II, Minuteman III, nuclear bombers and various NC3 platforms. Perform cumulative weapon system analysis in support of planning factors and other special studies. (15%)


* Deliver formal presentations to sponsors. Effectively communicate proposed concepts/solutions and analysis results. Produce documentation to capture concept definitions, requirements, analysis results, and technical recommendations. (15%)

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or related technical field.


* At least three years of experience with data analysis or systems analysis.


* Strong verbal and written communication skills.



Desired Qualifications:

* Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or related technical field.


* Experience with trend analysis of complex systems.


* Knowledge or experience with Navy submarine operations or strategic weapon systems.


* Experience working with U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs or U.S. Air Force Air Staff.



Special Working Conditions: Some local and short duration, overnight travel required (10%)

Security: Secret clearance is required. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
