Job Description

The Military Analyst will have a valid active Secret security clearance and significant experience (5 years) in Aegis Destroyer (DDG-51 Class) with respect to operations and maintenance. The Analyst will support a dynamic and evolving environment extracting and analyzing operational, logistics, and maintenance data from ship systems to assist in the prediction and resolution of operational and maintenance issues impacting Fleet Readiness. The position requires utilization of Microsoft Office including proficiency in Excel, database management, statistical analysis, and operational research techniques to look for systemic problems and support resource allocation for fleet maintenance and modernization. The Analyst will perform multi-faceted assignments requiring the analysis and synthesis of complex systems and projects while anticipating future requirements; develop and evaluate plans for various projects or program activities to meet requirements; and assess and recommend the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve problems.

The Military Analyst will be responsible for the following:

* Providing daily support to SEA 21 Readiness Manager for DDG-51 class.
* Providing guidance and recommendations to government staff.
* Responsible for extracting operational data, conducting research and analysis, and presenting analysis at up to the Flag level.
* Assessing DDG-51 Class Readiness capabilities, systemic failures, and proposing potential solutions; verifying effectiveness and efficiency of implemented solutions.
* Leveraging shipboard knowledge and experience gained from military service and leadership roles to solve current and/or future problem areas affecting ship readiness.
* Reviewing input data from a variety of sources, including CASREPs (Casualty Reports), system availability, and parts usage to correctly identify root causes of systemic problems and formulate solutions that balance cost reduction with cost avoidance.
* Supporting and coordinating cross-discipline working groups and Integrated Product Teams to initiate effective and efficient resolutions as requested.
* Developing rapport and coordinating closely with diverse operational, engineering, and logistics activities to effect solutions.
* May provide direction, training, and assistance to other project staff.
* Maintaining close coordination with Client personnel and visiting or performing work at Client site as required.
* Performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Clearance Requirements

Education, Work Experience, Skills and Clearance Requirements:

* Five years of active duty Navy experience or experience providing technical and program management support to Navy programs associated with Aegis Destroyers which can include shipboard duty, DESRON staff experience or CSCS/ATG tours supporting Surface Combatant training and readiness. Ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience serving in an Aegis Destroyer.
* Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience OR master's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience OR doctorate plus 1 year of relevant work experience.
* Possess knowledge of applicable operational mission areas, ship systems, and national defense requirements.
* Familiar with the Navy's 3 levels of maintenance.
* Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience (e.g., damage control, mechanical, RCM, NSTM).
* Effective writing and presentation skills to develop briefings, documents, papers, and conceptual and analytical reports for clients.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel.
* Project Management experience such as Divisional Leading Petty Officer or Divisional Chief Petty Officer in Aegis Destroyer.
* Valid active Secret security clearance required.
