Job Description:Technical Documentation Functional Manager reports the Section Manager and provides direct oversight of various technical writing programs. Manages 30 technical writers and is responsible for program execution including product quality, planning, staffing, status reporting, earned value reporting, financial review, and technical oversight. Applies various industry standards and Agile methods to technical documentation development. Conducts independent research into developing and emerging technologies as they relate to technical documentation development and seeks ways to apply what has been learned to our processes.
Responsible for the provision of proposal support to include Basis of Estimate (BOE) writing, BOE certification, estimating, support to Engineering Bid Reviews/Gate reviews, and using company provided proposal tools.
Manages group of 30 technical writing staff to include performance reviews, compensation planning, promotions/merit increases, achievement awards, goals, time card approvals, staff planning, and adherence to learning/department requirements.
Required Skills:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience developing and managing the development of technical documentation using MIL-STD and S1000D standards
Desired Skills:
* Agile SCRUM Master certified.
* IETM and PDF development.
* Familiarity with S1000D and MIL-STD-40051
Required Education (including Major):
* Bachelor's degree is required.
* Degree should be in science or engineering, though suitable experience may be substituted.
* Engineering Master's preferred.
