Today, Amazon Web Services provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries around the world. The AWS Cloud infrastructure is built around Regions and Availability Zones (AZs). AWS Regions provide multiple, physically separated and isolated Availability Zones which are connected with low latency, high throughput, and highly redundant networking. These Availability Zones offer AWS customers an easier and more effective way to design and operate applications and databases, making them more highly available, fault tolerant, and scalable than traditional single data center infrastructures or multi-data center infrastructures. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly technically savvy Metro Network Operations Manager to help maintain one of the world's largest and most complex networks. The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for managing some of the most technically complex communication networks anywhere. AWS Operations Managers are constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement and deliver the highest quality, most technically efficient connectivity solutions in the world.

This position will lead Metro Network operations efforts for Amazon Web Services (AWS), working with both internal and external resources to ensure our network is maintained up to our standards. The OM will be responsible for operations and maintenance agreement execution with our vendors, lead our damage protection and prevention programs, will coordinate vendors for maintenance activities across our network including fiber splicing, emergency restoration and day-to-day maintenance activities. Most importantly the OM will be responsible for ensuring that all required safety standards are adhered to by both internal and external resources. The OM will also be responsible for developing and implementing operational metrics and reporting against those metrics, contributing to vendor quarterly reviews and escalating issues to both vendors and upper management.

Responsibilities for the role include:

* Ensure that safety is a priority in all facets of our business
* Program management, risk mitigation and reporting status reviews to management and internal customers
* Maintain positive employee, vendor and public relations
* Manages Damage Prevention (811) programs for AWS
* Manages Operations and Maintenance Vendors
* Coordinates Maintenance windows with Internal Stakeholders and Maintenance Vendors
* Developing Metrics and Reporting against those metrics
* Understand the mechanisms used to operate and maintain one of the world's most complex networks.
* Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
* Ability to work across multiple time zones
* Willing to travel 15-25% of the time
