Job Description
As a Mechatronics Engineer at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), you will develop and prototype state of the art mechanisms, software and solutions for next generation AR and VR devices that can create transformative experiences. You will be part of a team exploring new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of solutions will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, robotics, firmware, and software components. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to build a concept into a prototype, and can work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines. Starting with a broad scientific and strong mechanical or electrical background, candidates should be willing to become an expert in a new area quickly and rapidly prototype new mechanisms and systems. We're looking for a hands-on builder of mechatronics systems and test infrastructure that can enable new research into human-computer interaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide programming and device setup and troubleshooting support for the planning and execution of cutting-edge research to advance the state-of-the-art in haptic interaction
Develop mechanisms, control algorithms, software, and models
Support the development and validation of test infrastructure for robotics system
Collaborate with other engineers and researchers to prototype hardware, develop software, develop experiments, and validate concepts that advance the entire project
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar areas
5+ years of experience developing or working with mechatronic and/or haptic devices, device design, control algorithms
3+ years of experience with system building in C++ or C
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master's degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar areas
Experience with LabVIEW systems
Embedded systems programming experience
Experience with rapid prototyping tools and methods
