Mathematical Analyst I

Lakewood, NJ

The Math team at Gaming Laboratories International performs complex statistical methods to test software designs that impact the products and services in the Gaming & Lottery industries. Working closely with the Engineering team, the Mathematical Analyst I is responsible for performing complex statistical analysis of challenging problems to reinforce, evaluate, and improve product quality. The Mathematical Analyst conducts standard game analysis, strategy game analysis, and random number generator analysis. This position is responsible for conducting technical reviews of other's work. The Mathematical Analyst is expected to be proficient in all appropriate tools and methods relevant to the work, including computer programming, spreadsheet analysis, and statistics. The Math Analyst devotes a large majority of time directly towards testing and review.

Duties & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

* Writes programs and performs other analyses to calculate needed mathematical features of games. These programs and analyses demonstrate good coding practices and are, by their structure and syntax, organized and easy to read and review with comments and documentation as necessary
* Reads and modifies programs and analyses developed by others to meet testing needs
* Reviews, understands and documents RNG source code written in various languages
* Writes programs or scripts to manipulate, parse or reorganize large data files into standard formats for testing
* Conducts and interprets statistical testing on game simulation results and on RNG data
* Carefully reviews analysis work conducted by others for accuracy. Willingly receives and incorporates feedback from reviewers on work performed
* Reads and interprets jurisdictional requirements, consulting appropriately for interpretation
* Works with internal and external clients, communicating professionally and courteously on topics of a technical nature
* Effectively communicates and collaborates with other members of the Math Department and other GLI employees
* Completes administrative duties, including time cards, promptly and without reminder
* Performs other duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Skills and Credentials:

* Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline
* Valid driver's license
* To commensurate with title, the Math Analyst should have:
* Knowledge of Probability, Statistics, and Combinatorics
* Knowledge of modern C++, including appropriate use of object-oriented design
* Understanding of core programming concepts and techniques
* Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Must have the ability to communicate, both orally and written, with other members of the team and external contacts
* Ability to handle and organize multiple projects and deadlines
* High degree of attention to quality, details, and correctness

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

* Must have the ability to sit and work at a computer for extensive periods of time.
* Must have the ability to speak on the telephone with clients/prospective clients for ex-tended periods of time.
