Position Summary

The Plant Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for Insulet's manufacturing line(s) responsible for producing our Personal Device Manager (PDM). This selected individual will serve as the key point of contact for manufacturing with the company's IT and Engineering teams.

This role is responsible for supporting Insulet's manufacturing, safety and quality processes to produce finished goods including the Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM). Processes will be executed according to approved operating procedures and documentation as appropriate for medical devices and will prioritize patient safety, personal safety and product quality. By direct involvement in Continuous Improvement and Lean methodology this role will influence the work processes and overall metrics including safety, quality, productivity and cost. This role may cross-train into related functions.

Responsibilities

* Support ongoing Production of PDM's, including performing required preventive and corrective maintenance activities as they relate to the line's equipment
* Troubleshoot Widows based PC Hardware Failures that occur during manufacturing runs
* Expedite repairs of failed computer system hardware to support ongoing PDM production
* Diagnose Windows Operating System failures and lock-ups and or frozen Manufacturing Stations during ongoing production runs
* Ability to Pull log files and root cause Freezing, lock ups, memory leaks, application runtime errors on the Industrial PC's that control the Manufacturing Test System
* Ability to pinpoint memory Leak issues to specific Applications and Time events
* Diagnose and repair Hardware Connectivity and operation Diagnostics - PCI Cards and Interface to PC
* Diagnose and repair USB Port Failure / Loss of Communications
* Provide and evaluate KPI's for the manufacturing team
* Capable to revise and draft manufacturing procedures as needed
* Monitor and train new employees on the manufacturing line
* Ability to be accessible should critical line interruptions occur

Education and Experience

* Associates degree in Computer Systems, Support or Maintenance. Technical Training Program with certification may also be considered
* Engineering/Electronics Technology degrees also considered in the area of computer science, data analytics and electronics hardware technology
* Significant Industry / Computer system support experience also considered
* 2+ years applicable experience in Computer system support related to Windows Operating Systems and networked industrial PC's
* Desired: Experience with Programming of Android mobile devices

Certifications Desired:

* Desired, but not required:
* Windows OS and PC Hardware Diagnostic Expert Level III
* CompTIA IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+
* HDI Desktop Support Technician, HDI Desktop Advanced Support Technician, HDI Technical Support Professional

* Understanding of Validated Medical device manufacturing systems
* Android Phone Flashing and Programming software and processes
* Knowledge of basic calibration requirements
* Knowledge of UDI scanners, RFID readers and Zebra label printers
* Basic soldering techniques
* Wire routing and repairs
* Basic knowledge and adherence to 5S techniques
* Knowledge of RF box functionality
* Basic knowledge of pneumatics and compressed air operations
