You will join a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers responsible for developing Medtronic's Robotic Assisted Surgery platform through commercial launch and production scale-up.

The Minimally Invasive Therapies Group strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions.

SURGICAL INNOVATIONS set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.

A Day in the Life

This position is in the Boston, MA Seaport District; as the Software Engineering Manager for Platform Software you will focus on managing a team of talented software engineers developing the communication infrastructure software for the surgical robot.

You will:

* Organize and drive sprints
* Refine the software development process
* Define and refine requirements in collaboration with the systems and hardware teams.
* Manage the careers of your team.

Must haves: Minimum requirements:

* A Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience.

Nice to haves:

* Experience leading small software development teams.
* Experience delivering multi-processor software systems.
* Understand the needs involved in developing subsystems for logging, network configuration, executable startup/shutdown, safety systems.
* Understand COTS/SOUP implications when using off the shelf operating systems, middleware, and networking protocols.
* Have a strong understanding of software development methodologies and the ability to work with the systems teams on requirements definition.
* Strong leadership abilities.
* Strong design and architecture skills.
* Experience performing risk management of embedded software ideally using SW FMEA techniques.
* Experience programming multiprocessor medical devices.
* Experience with software infrastructure development to support data logging, network communication, process management, safety implementation, software installation, network configuration as well as working with build and continuous integration teams.
* Strong C++ skills.
* Good understanding of 62304 and regulated will defined SDLC.
* Experience in FDA regulated software delivery.

Working Conditions:

Standard Office setting in South Boston. Some limited travel may be required.
