Job Description

Workday currently has a position open for Software Development Manager in our Customer Deployment Tools team to build out implementation tools for new Workday customers and customers who are extending their implementation. We are building tools that can securely, quickly and flexibly incorporate existing customer data into the Workday platform and which build an implementation workflow that constantly removes the long tail from implementations. To do this we are rapidly growing our team to continuously deliver high quality, innovative solutions built on customer feedback.

Responsibilities:

● Manage the development for the platform that drives core business acquisition for some of the world's biggest companies

● Ensure that technical direction is clear and appropriate and followed within the team, that technical debt is accounted for and minimized

● Mentor team members for career growth and personal development

● Recruit top talent to build a strong team in a rapidly growing environment

● Work with other Customer Deployment Tools teams to ensure that deliverables are appropriately aligned

● Work with other Workday teams to resolve dependencies, on time

● Assist in infrastructure and personnel budgeting

● Provide planning for owned components/products/projects

● Use metrics to identify potential opportunities to further tune our implementation lifecycle

● Assess and mitigate risk

● Have fun engineering software

Required Experience:

In addition to the enjoyment of a collaborative, open and synergistic working environment, you should have:

● A leader, not just a manager, who can motivate teams and manage a dynamic development environment

● Passionate about software development and customer satisfaction

● Ability to build strong relationships with diverse teams within the organization

● 2+ years software development management experience

● Experience developing individuals as leaders

● Minimum 5+ years experience with Java or Scala building distributed systems

● Proven track record of producing high quality software, on time

● Experience working with Product Management and Product Owners to groom backlogs

● Strong communicator, of progress and mission

● Bachelor's Degree or higher, Computer Science/Engineering
