Position Summary:

The Manager, SDET/Test Automation will lead a team of SDETs (on-shore and off-shore) and be responsible for the overall automation strategies across engineering practice from Dev, QA, and DevOps. You will be working in a fast-paced, fun, challenging and creative environment to achieve team-oriented goal. You will work closely with the Director of Quality Assurance to take an active leadership role in building a Culture of Quality across Truckstop.com for the goal of delivering overall product quality together with speed to market. The ideal candidate is one well-versed in agile methodologies advocating for the overall good engineering practice to achieve product quality. He or She is confident and excellent at communication and can thrive in a fast-moving, hyper-growth environment. Additionally, this candidate must have first-hand experience and knowledge, with proven leadership in establishing automation strategies and developing automation framework using recent technologies. Furthermore, this candidate must have proven skills in building and managing teams, such as training, mentoring, motivating team members.

Essential Job Functions:

What your day-to-day life will look like at Truckstop.com:

* Be you
* Exercise your leadership to advocate for good engineering practice under Agile
* Establish test automation strategies at company level across all engineering practice
* Develop, maintain, and grow test automation framework
* Own and manage Test Automation Kanban board
* Collaborate with QA Engineers on various Agile Squads or Tribes to define test automation needs thus to achieve maximum automated test coverage for both functional and non-functional testing
* Work with technical leads from development and DevOps on the overall test automation ecosystem across engineering practice with effective CI/CD strategies
* Report on test automation effectiveness and areas of improvements with auto-generated metrics
* Develop and run on-going trainings for both QA and Dev team members
* Review and stay on top of new technologies and practice
* Participate on vendor/tool review and selection
* Identify gaps and areas for improvement in quality processes, tools, and skills
* Implement needed improvements within the QA organization and influence change across all engineering function to help define and drive a Culture of Quality
* Work closely with the members of QA, development, and DevOps teams to understand priorities and to recommend sequence that maximizes efficiency of development resources while accounting for dependencies and resource constraints
* Review project scope and testing requirements to determine why and what to automate, and to staff projects properly
* Have fun and be ready to tackle new challenges

Cheer and Motivate the SDET Team

* Design and help SDET team development, including career growth, skills training, and team growth to keep up with the demands of quality product shipment and Truckstop.com growth goals
* Direct supervision of SDET Team, including activities such as hiring, performance reviews, etc.
* Responsible for SDET candidate selection and management of consulting partners (U.S. and offshore)
* Exercise good leadership through cheering and motivating team members
* Work with Agile teams to ensure projects are staffed with properly skilled SDETs
* Engage with product teams early to ensure quality through test automation is part of their design and development processes for all new and existing products
* Communicate and enforce good engineering practice and standards for consistency and awareness within SDET team

Background & Experience Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related STEM degree
* Have minimum seven years of experience in Agile software development with minimum three years of leading a team to develop test automation framework
* Have passion for software quality
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and influence skills
* Proven track record of developing best practices
* Hands-on experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Runscope, ReadyAPI, etc.
* Hands-on experience with building test automation framework and working knowledge of developing automated testing with Selenium WebDriver and Eclipse
* Working knowledge of automated functional and non-functional testing
* Working knowledge of about 70% of these knowledge domains: Java, JavaScript, Python, HTML, SQL, Angular, iOS, Linux, Maven, TestNG, Protractor, Docker, Kubernetes, DOM/POM, Xpath, Gitlab, CI/CD, Cloud, Mobile, SOA
* Performance testing using performance tools such as NeoLoad, JMeter, New Relic, etc.
* Experience testing large, interconnected applications
* Experience with Command line or Curl will be great plus
* Excellent management and leadership skills
* Strong problem solving skills and experience bringing clarity to initiatives
