Owning storage infrastructure for the cloud requires continuous innovation and solid delivery. The Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. To make this happen, Amazon S3 needs to build teams with the passion to handle the toughest problems in distributed systems.
We're looking for a Systems Development Manager to spearhead a growing area of the S3 Engineering group of Amazon in Herndon, VA. As a leader directing this area, you will focus on the challenges of complex systems design and development, while supporting our most important customers at the largest scale. You will dig into the details of high-level systems challenges one week, and will drive design for new object storage paradigms the next. You will define, plan and execute on deliverables that break ground in enabling new Systems Engineering operations and best practices. You will partner directly with the other teams across S3 to improve on automated code deployment through air-gapped, high security systems. You will grow a group of teams to build solutions that impact a wide swath of customers with a focus on high standards in design, testing, and delivery.
At Amazon, we hire hands-on managers at all levels. This leader must be able to dive deep into the details on business, operations and engineering. We need technical, detail-oriented leaders who can build and grow organizations. You'll need to excel at hiring and developing both systems level and application level engineers. You need to be able to grow leaders in your organization and lead a charter that grows as your organization grows. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. You'll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at rapid pace. If this sounds like your wheelhouse, then come work hard and make history with Amazon S3. This future Amazonian must hold a government clearance. Amazon Web Services invites best-in-class IT professionals to join an elite team to build and maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures.
The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of S3 Engineering.
