About

Job Description

The Data Integration Manager leads a group of IT system database and web database engineers. The role supports the site data historian, custom databases, custom batch reports, custom data tools and web portals to allow users to access manufacturing data from a variety of database and non-database sources. Responsibilities include:

* Manage performance and career development of staff


* Lead, design, develop, execute and deliver the optimal high quality data integration solutions needed for wide range of use from dashboard, reporting to GMP decision making


* In collaboration with stakeholders, ensures newly identified and innovative tools and techniques are implemented as appropriate to business needs


* Drive cloud data strategy and develop in-house skills with cloud technologies and modern data integration and orchestration tools (e.g. Spark, google/AWS/Azure); drive proof of concept for these new technologies aligned with business needs


* Develop strategy for standardization of custom databases, tools and reports


* Act as an "Agile" mentor contributing to the agile maturity of engineering; act as scrum master for one or more teams


* Lead ELT strategies (Data Extraction, Load, Transformation) that meets top customer use cases and business needs


* Lead the data steering team to expand partnership with internal and external stakeholders and drive effective prioritization and development of proof of concepts, pilots and tools


* Provide oversight of the data historian migration strategy (multi-year) from Aspen to OSI PI


* Provide expert data integration technical guidance and ensure best practices are met during the software development lifecycle


* Represent Roche in interactions with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Roche Pharma Development, Roche Informatics) and key cloud computing and data lake/data warehouse industry leaders (e.g. Google, Amazon)



Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a directly related discipline such as Computer Science or Engineering. Master's degree in Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or Computer Science is preferred.


* 5+ years experience as a successful data integration lead, Information Technology systems leader or Automation systems leader


* 3+ years of experience in user interface development for web applications


* Knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of the new ways of working frameworks and methodologies such as: Agile (e.g. Scrum), design thinking, lean, business process design and management


* Awareness of changing trends in the industry


* Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to changing project and strategic requirements; ability to work in unstructured and ambiguous situations


* Knowledge of cloud computing solutions, data lake, data warehouse and machine learning concepts


* Excellent people, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills


* Proven track record of leading and delivering data management and analysis, with the ability to apply this knowledge to existing and new operational challenges


* Familiarity with SAP, LIMS, MES, DCS, relational databases, data visualization tools


* Deep knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS (SASS a plus)


* Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Perl)


* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry will be an added advantage
