The Alexa Data Services team (ADS) is part of Amazon's speech platform organization that provides spoken language understanding capabilities for a variety of Amazon products and searches, most visibly, the Amazon Echo family of devices.

We are seeking an exceptionally talented Data Science manager to lead a team of scientists that will define the next generation of ADS process efficiencies. The leader will be responsible for identifying strategies to simplify, speed up, and error proof data processes that power Alexa machine learning. The leader will have experience or background in statistical and predictive modelling, be comfortable with SQL/python/R and associated libraries, have strong analytic skills, and have a passion for using data to drive business results. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, have an inquisitive mind that finds surprising needles in haystacks of data on a regular basis. Beyond the proficiency with data analytics, a successful candidate will have experience successfully leading teams, developing people, and building a scalable analytics infrastructure. This person must have strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to influence others and strong cross-functional leadership. This person needs to have good judgment and passion for helping customers discover the right product at the right time. As the single threaded leader, you will hire, coach, and lead your team of data scientists to leverage the wealth of Amazon's information and develop innovative models and insights that surface actionable insights. You define your team's roadmap in partnership with business and technology leaders, enabling us to continually delight our modeling and scientist community of customers resulting in end customer delight.

You and your team will have expertise in a broad range of data science methodologies and combine this knowledge with a deep understanding of ML and Operations challenges.
