Job Description

The Manager, Data Governance and Quality will lead a team Data Quality Analysts, external contractors, or a group of cross functional Data Stewards to root-cause and resolve acute data quality issues, implement and monitor automated data quality checks and processes, respond to data quality concerns brought forth by the UDP user community. The Manager, Data Governance and Quality will use tools and technologies to create new ways to proactively identify data quality problems before they impact UDP users. The Manager, Data Governance and Quality will effectively utilize his/her team to deliver best in class data quality at Gogo and ensure confidence in Gogo's UDP data warehouse.

* Lead the Data Quality team to deliver high quality data to Gogo's UDP user community
* Define the scope, nature, and severity of Data Quality issues and identify impacted systems/process/teams.
* Collaborate with key stakeholder across the organization to drive visibility and resolution of Data Quality issues.
* Set an example of "performance obsessed" attention to detail to the broader organization to highlight the importance of Data Governance as key competence in everything Gogo does.
* Create automated data quality checks that compare source to target data that highlight potential data quality issues.
* Measure, publish, and demonstrate improvement in key data quality metrics.
* Develop automated reporting via Tableau, R (or other enterprise reporting tool) that clearly reports and highlights potential or actual data quality issues by leveraging strong SQL skills.
* Evaluate Data Quality and Data Profiling tools to undercover and determine root cause of data quality issues. Implement tools in conjunction with approval from leadership.
* Implement a more scientific, statistical based approach that can be leveraged to detect potential data quality issues as they occur.
* Develop an alerting system to notify the data quality team and Data Engineers when a data quality issue may occur.
* Regularly review Data Quality reports, take action to address the issues, and follow up to ensure resolution.
* Collaborate with Data Engineers and source systems SMEs to resolve data quality issues that may occur. Provide them supporting evidence as needed and propose specific changes in their SQL logic to resolve the issues.
* Architect solutions to chronic and acute data quality issues, code the necessary ETL/SQL enhancements to resolve, and collaborate with ETL Developers to implement the improvements.
* Lead all Data Governance meetings in a backup capacity to the Senior Manager of Data Governance & Data Quality.
* Maintain an excellent level of understanding on the Data Governance and Data Quality industries by participating in local meetings, attend conferences, review publications, follow best practices, etc…
