Job Description

The AWS Hardware Engineering team creates server designs for Amazon's innovative web services. Our designs are industry leading in performance and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and the more than one million customers who use AWS today. Our BIEs solve challenging technology problems, and build architecturally sound, high-quality analytics to enable AWS to realize critical business strategies.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong technical background, be detail driven, have excellent problem-solving abilities, have strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams.You will have a deep understanding of big data tools and architecture details and will successfully represent the technical team to senior leadership and customers. Your technical expertise and operational excellence will influence the team's decisions, drive secure and robust solutions and produce high quality products to delight our customers. We are looking for leaders with proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects. The candidate should be customer-focused with a passion for the cloud.

Primary Responsibilities

* Hire, manage, coach and lead a high performing team of Business Intelligence Engineers
* Engage with leadership and diversified customer groups to understand the needs and recommend business intelligence solutions.
* Partner with Data engineering team to define the data elements and data structure that the team should leverage to enable analytical capabilities.
* Design, implement, and support platforms that provide business teams ad-hoc access to large datasets (eg data visualization tools for non-tech business users)
* Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete reporting solutions.
* Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
* Participate in strategic & tactical planning discussions.
* Standardize data and report consumption across all customer groups.
* Make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve the operational and quality metrics.
* Be connected and influential within the Amazon BI community. Work with Data engineering, Software development teams to enable the appropriate capture and storage of key data points.
