About this Position

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist - Machine Learning for Autonomous Driving in our Agoura Hills, CA location. Aptiv's Safety Electronics group pioneered the sensors, software, and systems that empower Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning, Emergency Brake Assist, and Lane Keeping systems widely available to consumers today; and we continue to stretch the technology envelope with 360 degree sensing and advanced algorithms that are piloting automated vehicles. Our state-of-the-art Automotive Active Safety products in production today employ radars, lidars, cameras, and other in-vehicle sensors that make cars and drivers more aware of the situation around them, and actively control the vehicle in order to avoid accidents. The advanced development group in Agoura Hills, California, that helped pioneer these systems, is looking for energetic, capable individuals to join a team of engineers to develop future active safety and autonomous vehicle sensing technologies.

Responsibilities and Duties

Selected candidate will work on a team focused on the development of novel methods using pattern recognition and machine learning to solve problems related to automotive radar data for autonomous driving. Problems will include the detection, segmentation, and classification of objects in radar imagery, tracking of targets, and fusion with other sensor data.

Basic Qualifications

* Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
* 3+ years' experience in the application of pattern recognition methods and machine learning to practical problems.
* 3+ years' experience with developing neural network systems and modifying existing systems to tailor a specific solution



Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

* Strong mathematical and algorithm development skills.
* Ability to analyze diverse data to develop pattern recognition methods
* Knowledge of radar systems.
* Background in image processing or radar data processing.
* Experience in application of various machine learning systems such as CNN, RNN, deep learning networks.
* Familiarity with available machine learning software tools such as Tensorflow, Caffe, Matlab.
