Job Description

The Mac Platform Software team in Core OS is looking for an engineering manager to lead an Austin-based team of firmware and systems software engineers responsible for evolving Apple's UEFI implementation and related technologies for the Mac product line. Mac Platform Software is responsible for bringing up macOS and Windows on all new Mac products, including the development and integration of firmware and systems software for macOS and Windows, the development of platform-level features for the Mac, and the leadership of cross-functional debug and optimization efforts across hardware and software teams.

Experience managing a team of firmware or systems software engineers Experience with firmware, device-driver, and kernel-level development Excellent understanding of hardware design as it relates to operating systems Experience with test strategies including unit, system-integration, white-box, black-box, fuzz, conformance, and compliance Experience with automating software production and testing Proven track record of delivering software aligned with project and program schedules History of setting aggressive yet attainable goals and motivating teams to achieve them Strong written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, or EE, or equivalent industry experience Knowledge of UEFI and the x86 platform and standards, including ACPI, SMM, PnP, PCIe, and JEDEC DDR a plus Familiarity with both UNIX and Windows software development a plus

The Mac Firmware Evolution Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of an engineering team that is responsible for modernizing and augmenting Apple's UEFI implementation and its related technologies. Responsibilities: Growing and strengthening an Austin-based team by hiring and retaining top-tier engineering talent. Applying state-of-the-art continuous-integration strategies to modernize the firmware for shipping and future Mac products. Establishing and implementing test and diagnostics solutions that improve both product stability and development efficiency. Executing against the team roadmap with high quality work on tight schedules. Identifying and vocalizing risk areas during product and technology development. Promoting a team culture that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity.

Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, EE or equivalent industry experience required
