LINUX Systems Engineer (Top Secret Clearance Required)

Job Description

DEI has an immediate opening for a System Engineer to serve as Linux System Administrator for our client in Ft. Belvoir, VA.

The candidate will work with such technologies as Open Source: Apache Hadoop, Zookeeper, Puppet; App Servers: JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty; Databases: Cloudbase, Accumulo, HBase, MySQL; Government Framework: Ozone Widget Framework (OWF); Virtualization: Kernel-Based Virtual Machine (KVM), VMware vSphere Client, VMware Player, and VirtualBox. He or she will be responsible for deploying a cloud infrastructure to Linux based server clusters.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for developing and maintaining Linux deployment standards, maintaining existing systems and implementing new technologies.
* Responsible for deploying a cloud infrastructure, including Apache Hadoop and Cloud base, to Linux based server clusters
* Integrated multiple widgets and services into the ozone widget framework using the JBoss, Tomcat and Jetty web servers
* Deployed custom ingest applications and ingested various forms of data into the cloud infrastructure
* Executed custom MapReduce jobs via Apache Hadoop and ensured all data analytics had been run successfully
* Provisioned and configured servers via network-based installation using the automation software Cobbler and Puppet
* Created custom shell scripts to automate the starting and stopping of various software applications
* Archived and restored essential system data, including files, folders and database tables
* Used VMware to create virtual machines on bare metal servers as well as on personal computers
* Developed and executed test plans, test scripts, identified defects, and created and maintained a defect database.
* Built automated test cases to verify functionality of software deliverables to validate application functionalities.

* Extensive background in Linux systems administration and configuration, especially RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.x and CentOs
* Experience programming with Bash and experience with Linux internals, excellent customer and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent planning, prioritization and organizational skills.
* Technically capable to look at situations and offer solutions (i.e., excellent troubleshooting skills).
* Ability to diagnose complex customer applications issues and provide quick and accurate solutions, take ownership of issues from identification through resolution.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, strong Interpersonal Skills, strong Multi-tasker, strong experience with DoD STIGs.
