Position Description

In this role, you will work remotely supporting and expanding a multi-site organization with advanced systems to achieve the organizational goals of transforming the North American Supply Chain. As our Client scales and diversifies its technology landscape, the need to diversify its operating systems is evident. We are seeking a Linux expert with proficiency and exposure to other technologies that are or will be used in their environment. This person will lead some new server initiatives that will empower our Client to advance its applications, infrastructure, and data technology strategy. This person will function as a technical liaison and bridge between IT Operations and IT Development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Collaborate with other IT departments in a positive atmosphere to innovate and create value
* Create and maintain policies and procedures as it relates to Linux infrastructure
* Develop and implement maintenance routines to ensure system integrity while analyzing systems for overall performance and provide recommendations on improvements
* As a subject matter expert, provide leadership and mentoring to others within the department
* Provides exceptional technical support to all colleagues and customers
* Resolves escalated tickets and provides after-hours (rotational) support as needed for problem analysis and resolution
* Interacts with vendors for quotes, support, new technologies, and vendor relationship tasks
* Analyzes metrics to identify optimization opportunities and utilization/capacity trends
* Identifies modifications to implement and improve operational support
* Maintains and communicates project plan and status updates proactively
* Completes other projects and duties as assigned

Must Have Skills:

* Background in design, implementation, performance tuning, and support
* 5+ years' experience in enterprise infrastructure design, implementation and troubleshooting
* Demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing and administering Linux (RedHat, or Ubuntu)
* Firm understanding of Linux configuration management
* Ability to understand and interpret the needs of developers and translate them into engineering best practices with Linux
* Scripting experience and fluent in at least one scripting language such as Korn, PowerShell, or Python
* Thorough knowledge of performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and supporting production operations
* Proficiency working with technologies associated with a mixed environment such as Windows, VMWare virtualization and Pure Storage SAN/NAS
* Good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
* Experience using proactive software and hardware monitoring solutions
* Advanced troubleshooting skills to drive to root cause
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Preferred Skills:

* Experience with Red Hat Satellite for system management
* Previous experience in a fast-paced organization, brokerage, or trading firm
* Experience utilizing Microsoft System Center Suite
* Knowledge about containerization tools like Kubernetes, Docker, or OpenShift
