Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer (prefer Electro-Optical Engineering specialty or EE with experience with Electro-Optical sensors) will work onsite at Product Manager Ground Sensors (PMGS, Fort Belvoir Virginia) and will provide technical expertise for the development and maturation of the PMGS technology portfolio; with primary focus on the successful development/interface/integration (optical/electrical) of 3GENFLIR technology into combat vehicle platforms (Abrams, Bradley, etc.). A Systems Engineer with EO/IR experience with FLIR in army ground platforms (Abrams, Bradley): specifically 2nd GEN FLIR or 3GEN FLIR would be acceptable.

The PMGS technology portfolio includes Third Generation FLIR (3GEN FLIR); Second Generation FLIR; Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System (LRAS3); Vehicle Optics Sensor System (VOSS); the Driver's Vision Enhancer (DVE); Intelligent ground systems (IGSs); Unattended ground sensors (UGSs); Gunshot Detection System (GDS); Boomerang Generation III (BG III) ; Close Access Target Reconnaissance (CATR); and the Unattended Transient Acoustic MASINT System (UTAMS)

Job Duties:

* Works directly with senior technical personnel (government and contractor) and stakeholder program managers in the planning and execution of technical activities related to 3GENFLIR.
* Employs existing guidelines and instructions, guidance, experience, and independent judgment to plan and accomplish task objectives.
* Studies, reviews, and makes recommendations with respect to the electro-optical maturity of 3GENFLIR technologies under development for integration and operation on combat vehicles.
* Reviews contractor products (ICDs, design documents, test documents, etc.) and makes recommendations with respect to compliance to government specifications and requirements.
* Identifies and documents project functional requirements.
* Defines and organizes projects into the tasks and activities needed to solve the problems being addressed.
* Defines and reviews Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for Government and contractor requirement documents.
* Identifies and recommends verification testing methodologies for Electro-Optical sensors.
* Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
* Prepares and reviews input to technical reports, status reports, letters, technical memoranda, contract reports and formal briefings.
* Authors and co-authors technical reports.
* Leads technical discussions at project review sessions.
* Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties.
* Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems, procedures, and guidelines.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Optics
* At least five years of work experience in a relevant environment that provided significant exposure to 3GEN FLIR or very similar component technologies.
* Must have ACTIVE Secret Clearance
* Competence working in a systems engineering environment, with a demonstrated understanding of how their specific skill sets and competencies must integrate with others in the larger whole to produce sophisticated sensor systems that work.
