Overview

We are expanding our efforts into complementary data technologies for decision support in areas that capitalize on containers/platforms-as-a-service stack that orchestrate large-scale distributed and elastically scalable data processing services based applications. Our interests are in enabling streamlined intelligent application development with an end-to-end framework of service based data technologies for large-scale and low-latent processing of data. To that end, this role will engage with team counterparts in exploring and deploying technologies for the next-generation container service oriented stack with automation for continuous integration and continuous deployment. Additional aspects of exploration and deployment of technologies to be addressed include application container deployment configuration, application logging and performance monitoring for auto-scaling with machine learning, application logging and security events monitoring and detection, and certificates and key management and distribution. Responsibility also includes coding, testing, and documentation of new or modified scalable analytic data systems including automation for deployment and monitoring. This role participates along with team counterparts to architect an end-to-end framework developed on a group of core data technologies. Other aspects of the role include developing standards and processes for distributed systems software engineering projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

* Evaluate, research, experiment with container centric platform and framework technologies in a lab to keep pace with industry innovation while assessing business impact and viability for use cases associated with efforts in hand
* Work with other application development related groups to inform on and showcase capabilities of emerging technologies and to enable the adoption of these new technologies and associated techniques
* Define and refine processes and procedures for a container centric application development practice
* Work closely with data scientists, data engineers, data architects, ETL developers, database administrators, systems engineers, application developers, and business partners to develop and deploy intelligent applications
* Code, test, deploy, monitor, document, and troubleshoot applications and associated automation to include auto-scaling, log aggregation, security event aggregation, secrets management alongside continuous integration and continuous deployment
* Define application architecture both hardware and software reflective of business requirements to be included in end-to-end solution architecture
* Educate and develop other application developers on contain based development so as to enable future development and practice

Qualifications

Knowledge

* General working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, Subnetting, Routing, DHCP, Command line and DNS
* Knowledge of PC hardware and software
* Must have a broad understanding of enterprise computer hardware/software and corporate information systems
* Strong knowledge of operating systems, applications and associated hardware (eg, Windows Desktop OSs, Windows Server OSs, OS/, UNIX/Linux)
* Understanding of enterprise computer hardware/software and information systems
* Working knowledge of WAN security and design
* Working knowledge of Docker Datacenter, Mesos, Kubernetes, OpenShift and/or Deis or other such container/platform-as-a-service orchestrator and auto-scale

Skills

* Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages

Education

* Bachelor's Degree or higher degree in Computer Science or other quantitative discipline required

Experience

* 2-3 years hands-on experience with NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, Riak or other technologies that embed NoSQL such as MarkLogic or Lily Enterprise; hands-on experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, or MQTT; hands-on experience with enterprise service bus such as Tibco or Mule required
* 3-5 years hands-on experience with SQL databases such as Oracle, DB2, MySQL, or Postrges required
* 7-10 years software engineering including Java and Python and/or Golang required
