About the Team

You will be part of the Enterprise Support and Reliability Engineering -- eCommerce Support group, supporting our mission of providing frictionless, always-on eCommerce services to the public, as well as supporting custom business workflow tooling. We monitor the productions eCommerce services, detect issues early, and resolve operational and functional issues in the eCommerce web services.

About the Role:

As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at Williams-Sonoma you will support eCommerce production operations on the eCommerce Support team as an engineer who serves as an example to their team on how to solve problems at root cause. You already enjoy solving problems with code, which is why you're a balanced engineer, at home both in application code written by others, as well as designing your own app from scratch. Your documentation and communication skills are above par and you have prior experience working in a production support capacity as a full-stack, Site Reliability, Production Operations, or similar engineer.

Your primary focus will be on the resilience, operability, stability, and scalability of the Williams-Sonoma family of brands' eCommerce websites and to ensure that the websites maintain optimal availability for our users. You will collaborate with a full-stack team of peers to monitor, detect, and investigate site behaviors, correct and enhance code already in production, deliver features, and facilitate more efficient software business process.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* You have a B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field and/or 5+ years of Java or full stack application development experience in a professional setting
* You have a history of recognizing opportunities and leading initiatives, involving management and peers and working toward successful completion
* You have successfully mentored peers, pair programmed, and written standard operating procedures for teams

* Monitoring instrumentation, tooling, and alert design and implementation across APM, RUM, and log management systems are second nature

* You demonstrate a history of identifying and designing automation to eliminate repetitive tasks
* You exhibit an exemplary practice of documenting findings based on data and providing evidence
* You've supported production operations issue management and response
* You can collaborate with internal support and engineering teams and 3rd party vendors on problems and solutions
* You have a strong organizational skillset and the ability to track multiple issues to resolution
* You're able to lead a cross-functional, technical team of peers toward issue resolution
* You bring experience utilizing issue/workflow ticket tracking systems
* You are self-motivated, collaborative
* E-commerce industry experience is a plus

Technical Competencies required:

* Strong full stack, Java and/or JavaScript to production
* 5 years of experience supporting production services
* SQL and/or NOSQL queries for production purposes
* Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing log analysis, application performance management (APM), real user monitoring (RUM), developer tools, and localhost testing
