Are you inspired by improving the Nation's defensive capabilities?

Do you strive to analyze challenges and create large-scale system solutions for defending U.S. assets against missile attack using state of the art technologies?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a lead engineer to guide and ensure the integration of Surface Navy Electronic Warfare systems with Surface Navy combat systems for all U.S. Navy ships. You will be leading an engineering team dedicated to developing integrated warfighting capabilities that harness a diverse set of sensors and weapons to accomplish numerous missions that are essential to the defense of our nation. You will ensure a complete and practical integrated system of EW and kinetic kill sensor and weapons. We take pride in achieving practical, operationally sound solutions to complex warfighter problems, with a focus on innovation, affordability, and timeliness. With your help, we can continue to develop our missile defense system analytic capabilities and develop systems to address critical operational shortfalls through research, conceptualization, design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation.

As the lead combat system EW integration engineer you will provide leadership in the following areas ...

* Lead and collaborate on the key technical integration efforts across the sensors, weapons, and combat system programs.

* Provide system engineering expertise particularly in requirements analysis, functional allocation and design synthesis.
* Provide technical expertise particularly in areas such as information fusion, target tracking & state estimation, weapon selection & assignment.
* Collaboratively identify and propose new ideas for system integration approaches and integration studies.
* Support operational assessments of integrated hard-kill and soft-kill capabilities for operational forces.
* Evaluate new concepts and capabilities of existing EW systems to defeat emerging threats.

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

* Possess a BS degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
* Have at least 5 years of professional experience in defense system development including the development of system engineering artifacts for requirements analysis, functional allocation, and design synthesis as well 2 years of experience developing and analyzing defense system aspects related to target tracking, data fusion, or weapon assignment algorithms.
* Have a proven ability in effectively leading technical staff in solving complex problems.
* Possess strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communications abilities, and organizational skills with a record of accomplishment in a team environment.
* Hold an active Secret level security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information and facilities. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
* Are willing and able to occasionally (10%) travel and work at military facilities including underway on US Navy ships and aircraft, requiring work outside of and in excess of normal working hours. Some additional local travel to meet with sponsors and contractors may also be needed.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

* Possess an MS (or higher) degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics or related technical field.
* Have experience developing and fielding Navy Surface systems including Aegis, SSDS and/or Electronic Warfare systems.
* Have experience interacting and getting feedback from U.S. warfighters.
* Have previously worked on projects with sponsors from NAVSEA or ONR.
