Role Summary:The Need: A data software engineer with 5 years' software experience including 2+ years in data engineering

The Opportunity: To contribute directly to the success of innovative cloud based unmanned aerial and autonomous flight operations ecosystem

Essential Responsibilities:

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing our Air Mobility Platform's Big Data pipelines and services. You will be responsible for the design and development of data ingestion/ETL pipelines, our data services, establishing best practices for data governance. A successful candidate will have hands-on experience with building various elements of Big Data solutions, e.g. data ingestion, data modeling, metadata management and ETL pipelines. We are looking for a passionate applicant with strong communication skills and the enthusiasm for building rich data architectures from the ground up.

More specifically, you will:

Identify and implement business and technical requirements for data ingestion, data processing, and data services

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data processing systems

Automate, optimize, and maintain ETL mappings in a repeatable, scalable manner

Evaluate SLAs from third-party data providers and monitor ingestion feeds for data veracity

Administer all data to ensure compliance with standards and policies.

Collaborate with Engineering Staff and provide input into all database schemas, data pipelines, data services and support efforts to define SW development roadmaps

Lead the evaluation and selection of commercial/OSS technologies for integration into our products

Assist SW development teams with adoption of external data technologies and internal designs

Accomplish tasks within an agile development framework and aggressive SW delivery timelines

Respond and adapt to evolving business and leadership needs

Provide regular and timely progress reports to leadership team

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM

Minimum 5 years of software development in industry

Minimum 2 years in Data Engineering

Desired Characteristics:

Possesses experience developing ETL or data ingestion specifications and mappings to support data conversion and integration

Maintain an understanding of relational database concepts and technology, data modeling, SQL, query optimization, NoSQL, and data warehousing

Possesses experience in Public or Private cloud services: examples EC2, S3, EMR, Glue, etc. or other cloud services

Maintains experience developing in object-oriented and functional programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, etc.

Possesses experience in Unix shell scripting and writing regular expressions

Candidate maintains excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in general database administration concepts and efficient query writing

Well organized and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced demanding environment

Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to business users and management

Strong advocate for SW engineering principles, deep understanding of SDLC, and experience in Agile environments

Possesses experience with streaming data management technologies such as: Kafka, Pulsar

Maintains prior experience with scalable data analytics technologies such as: Spark

Comfortable and proficient with scalable/reliable search index technologies like: Solr, ElasticSearch

Individual possesses the ability to work with 3rd party data providers and customer personnel
