The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to design the next generation data warehouse for a mission-based company, growing 50% year over year. As the Lead Data Modeler & Warehouse Engineer, you will be part of making insights accessible. In your daily work, you'll be responsible for documenting data design (including lineage and conformed dimensions) and outlining models that inform an efficient, effective data organization. You will also take a hands-on approach to collaborating across analysts and business intelligence to define, refine, and track the KPIs most critical to driving business growth.

You will work closely with the Director of Data Warehouse and other key stakeholders to define the most critical enterprise-wide KPIs that drive business growth and engagement. Using cutting-edge cloud technology, your work will combine deep analytics with analysis of user behavior, and will serve as the backbone of business intelligence and decision-making for Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success. These insights will also be leveraged for C-level and Board reporting across Newsela. You will be joining the Data team as it doubles in size over the next year, and will help build the foundation for a product that transforms education through reading engagement.

You have 4+ years demonstrated success in delivering relational and dimensional models that feed KPIs, provide valuable insights, and ultimately drive business growth and profitability. A seamless communicator across diverse stakeholders, you can translate business requirements into the underlying data, and leverage your deep understanding of roles and business outcomes to help define and refine KPIs. You are well-versed in both ETL and ELT in addition to possessing expert SQL, DDL, and DML knowledge. You have an innate ability to ingest clickstream data, and combine it with data from Salesforce, marketing, finance, and other departments to inform and enhance business execution. Through your work in data modeling, you have quadrupled either the data warehouse set, utilization, and/or business performance. You do all this, while also contributing to an engaging data team culture.
