The AWS Lead Architect / Software Engineer will be responsible for architecting, implementing and deploying applications to build existing automated workflows (as well as design/develop new workflows), streamline back-end business processes and facilitate data management for program(s) within the Fortitude liability, casualty and annuity business. The AWS architect would also be responsible for understanding the security features and tools that AWS provides and developing core components to ensure repeatable, scalable design patterns are met and maintained. This position will support the overall software design objectives for the Fortitude Re business and proactively participate as part of a larger team dedicated to our customers and business departments. In this position, the individual will need to be a self-starter with the ability to solve complex problems under minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

* 7+ years of experience with BS/BA degree - preferably in Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent
* At least 2 to 4 years of experience with AWS development and as a lead system/software architect
* At least 1 to 3 years of experience with automated development of work flows in AWS

Preferred Additional Skills:

* Certified Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months
* Experience with Agile/Scrum lifecycle management/development and tools such as JIRA and Confluence
* Familiar with DevOps tools such as GitLab or Jenkins and experience implementing continuous integration (CI) / continuous deployment (CD) efforts
* 2+ years of experience with NodeJS, Javascript, XML, HTML, JSON
* 2+ years of experience with Docker, ELK Stack and KeystonJS framework
* Ability to deliver high quality work on tight schedules in a dynamic, agile product environment
* Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
* Strong written and oral communication skills with experience delivering / presenting to management team as well as senior leadership
* Ability to understand and explain complex information simply and accurately
