On the Comcast VIPER Player Platform team, you'll have a direct impact on the customer experience of millions of users across multiple types of devices. From the latest X1 Set-Top Boxes, to the Xfinity Stream app running on customer's Smart TVs, to all modern desktop browsers, you'll face the challenges of delivering highly flexible, re-usable software to provide the premium experience our customers expect.

What you'll do:

Day to day, you'll develop software to solve challenging problems of video playback, implement flexible analytics and advertising requirements, and drive the accessibility and localization of our products. You'll use (and learn) TypeScript-a cutting-edge superset of JavaScript which developers from any background will find accessible, fun, and productive. Push your code to our internal GitHub Enterprise and watch our containerized, modern CI system test and deploy it to pre-production environments. Frequent production deployments mean your contributions quickly give value to the user and business. Our flexible, engineering and customer-driven software process means you'll understand the "why" of what we work on-and we'll trust you to deliver the "how". Besides our developer-friendly tooling and process, you'll work hands-on with industry experts in streaming video technologies, content protection, advertising, and data science.

Qualifications:

5-7 years software engineering experience and a solid grasp of software engineering and computer science fundamentals-design principles, data structures, and algorithms

* Customer- and team-focused mindset
* Experience with source control systems such as git
* Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, automation tests
* Experience with scripting languages, CI/CD systems
* Experience with streaming video technology preferred-especially HTML5 Media Source Extensions and Encrypted Media Extensions, MPEG DASH, and HLS
* TypeScript or JavaScript experience preferred

About Comcast VIPER (Video IP Engineering and Research)

The VIPER team is an organization within Comcast Technology Solutions which supports the Product Management, Research & Development, Engineering and Operations for Comcast's World Class Video Experiences in use by Comcast and Syndicated Partners. We support both legacy QAM Video Delivery and the Next Generation IP Video Platform infrastructure from Content Acquisition to the Player consuming experiences we control the end-to-end Video delivery platforms. These platforms deliver video for live linear, video on-demand and cloud DVR services consumed by more than 20 million customers both in-home and out of home on stb's, connected tv, mobile and desktop products.
