Mastech Digital provides digital and mainstream technology staff as well as Digital Transformation Services for leading American Corporations. This is a Contract-to-Hire position and the client is looking for someone to start immediately.

Duration: 3 Month Contract to Hire

Role Description: The Java Developer would need to have at least 7+ years of experience. In this position, you will work in a team environment for the delivery and maintenance of application systems.

You will be responsible for participating in backlog grooming, defining requirements, programming, unit testing and debugging of applications in a collaborative environment. You will participate in database design and system testing.

This position requires technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day to day work solving challenging problems with minimal supervision. In this position, you will work with a team using one or more of the following technologies: OOA&D, Java/JEE, Maven, Spring Framework, Gradle, Git. Good understanding of Agile, Web Services, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.

Expected deliverables include but are not limited to requirements analysis, system analysis, system design and documentation, data models, program design, source code development, test case development, testing, documentation and mentoring junior staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Translate business requirements into technical solutions, frequently involving multiple web applications and backend systems.
* Collaborate with business owners, System Architect, Product Owner and Agile/Lean development team (using Scrum and KanBan) on technical design and implementation.
* Implement code that conforms to Digital Services coding standards and escalate technical development issues to Java Developer III or System Architect as appropriate.
* Write unit tests that meet coverage goals.
* Adhere to standard build and release process.
* Mentor junior staff and become Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one or more smaller web application(s) developed and supported by the organization's Health Plan of Washington Digital Services
* Create and maintain GH Web Team documents, including and not limited to JavaDocs, standard Maven site docs, SharePoint, and Wiki.
* Able to troubleshoot and identify problem areas in all environments through inspection of logs, tracing of source code, running tests, and collaborating with others. Periodic operational support responsibility.
* Completes assignments in an accurate and timely manner.
* Maintains and reports status on assigned tasks on a regular basis.
* Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

* Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with a modern programming language, a distributed version control system and Agile Methodology.
* College coursework in computer science or related field OR experience in a directly related field.
* High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.

Additional Requirements:

* Excellent written and verbal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience writing code in current versions of Java, Spring, MVC design pattern; continuous Integration tools and programmatic interactions with backend databases.
* Bachelor's degree or bachelor of science degree in computer science or related field.
* Exposure to eXtreme Programming (XP), Test Driven Development (TDD) or Test First Development practices

This is a Sr. Level Developer role. You will be working in a collaborative work environment. There are several projects, but the main projects are Business Portal and Producer Site and they will be creating features on the existing sites.

Education: High School/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or another related field or Equivalent.
