Job Description

The Water Department's Management Services Division has an IT Technical Support Analyst II - Utility Billing job available in its Water IT Section. Working as part of a team, you will be expected to perform duties associated with the maintenance and support activities required by our Utility Billing application and related systems. You will be responsible for or assist with the maintenance and administration of the IBM iSeries (multiple partitions), including message handling, work management, job and print control, device management, system configuration, system security, backup and restore, disaster recovery, data/file transfer, and systems integration. This position also provides support to end-users to resolve system issues. This position will require you to work in the office environment.

IT Technical Support Analyst II - Utility Billing job responsibilities include:

* Provide technical and application support and assistance for Utility Billing application users and related systems through in-person and remote support utilizing phone, email and remote tools.
* Create reports and data extracts using query tools or SQL as supported by DB2 for IBM iSeries.
* Perform problem isolation, definition, resolution and follow-up for system, application, and customer issues.
* Install, upgrade, configure, test and maintain third party software applications.
* Perform planning, testing, and implementation of system, application, and hardware upgrades.
* Ensure backup jobs are scheduled and completed successfully.
* Assist in preparation and periodic recovery testing of disaster recovery plans.
* Create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.
* Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Utility Billing System applications and how they are used in our environment.
* Adapt and self-educate on new technologies to provide recommendations regarding its usage in our environment.
* Assist with the training and development of technical colleagues and end users.
* Perform other duties as required.

Minimum job requirements include:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field with two years of responsible experience in an information systems technical support capacity.
* Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
* Work a regular schedule of Monday through Friday and must be able to work after hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Participate in a 24 x 7 on call rotation.

Preferred job qualifications include:

* Four years hands-on experience as an administrator of an IBM iSeries
* Four years of demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-level application software system(s) in the IBM iSeries environment.
* Demonstrated experience configuring and using HelpSystems/PowerTech products.
* Knowledge of Central Square (Superion/SunGard/HTE) Naviline software
* Two years experience creating reports and data extracts using query tools (i.e. DB2 Query for iSeries) or SQL as supported by DB2 for IBM iSeries.
