Responsibilities

These types of positions administer, develop, deliver, and support information technology (IT) systems and services. The paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; e.g., data storage, software applications, and networking. Information technology refers to systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance, or reception of information. Information technology includes computers, network components, peripheral equipment, software, firmware, services, and related sources.

Performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Acts as principal technical specialist or as a project manager or team leader for large work activities.

Applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge applicable to his/her discipline, as well as an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to solve complex problems and develop improved technical processes or systems. Considers the objectives of the major subdivision and LOB/SO when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems. Assignments frequently require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. Typical assignments may include: complex system design and integration; extensive research and analyses; investigation and inspection activities; compliance and enforcement actions; and direct responsibility for project/program management.

This position will include the following duties:

* Developing, supporting, integrating, and evaluating software components, policies, architectures, and infrastructure.
* Leading a team or a project in providing software application support including developing system requirements, system testing and evaluation, system integration and deployment, and the resolution of technical issues.
* Improving business processes and utilizing emerging technologies.
* Conducting systems security evaluation, audits and/or reviews.
* Evaluating and suggesting improvements to database architecture.
* Providing technical oversight of contract support.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

To qualify for this position at the FV-J, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience developing, supporting, integrating, and evaluating software components, policies, architectures, and infrastructure. Experience with cloud native products or equivalent.
