Position Summary

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for technology operations and security for multiple office locations. This position oversees a team of staff who provide general helpdesk support, operating system support, and data/systems security support. Oversee a variety of technical projects and resolve escalated technical issues. IT Operation Manager may report to the Senior Director of IT Engineering & Operations or CIO.

Position Responsibilities

* Responsible for management of IT Operations Team of Systems Administrators and Helpdesk Associates including the hiring, training, oversight of workflow and quality assurance


* Responsible for the oversight of IT Change Management, IT Policy Exceptions Management, BCP and DR planning, and Incident Response


* Responsible for network and system access control and maintain security groups


* Responsible for system implementation and lifecycle standards including patching, upgrades, migrations and decommissioning server and end points.


* Present end user training on information security programs and systems, as well as firm communications about outages, system updates, and other critical information.


* Provide technical assistance and support for escalated inquiries and issues relating to computer operating systems, investigate problems, determine source and implement solutions


* Provide research and guidance regarding system or software acquisitions for the firm


* Prepare reports on CapEx, and assist with other departments spending priorities.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong leadership and change management skills


* Strong knowledge of aspects of system administration including the ability to configure, manage and troubleshoot physical machines (both servers and workstations), VMware ESXi hosts, Windows server 2008r2-2012r2 (including AD, DNS, DHCP File Server, IIS, Exchange), Windows 7 clients. Some Linux/LAMP system administration experience preferred.


* Strong knowledge of aspects of network administration including the ability to configure, manage and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, VOIP, VLANs, IDS/IPS systems, endpoint A/V, email and web security systems.


* Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (e.g., Perl, Python, VBScript, Windows, PowerShell)


* Experience with Mid to Large size windows computing environment including Active Directory, Windows 2008/2012 Server and Microsoft Windows 7 with sufficient skills to be able to manage Group Policy Objects, system settings, user permissions, file permissions. Experience with Windows Server Tools, Ivanti Service manager or other enterprise management system.


* Proven experience in effectively managing a team of technical staff


* Excellent customer service and problem solving skills


* Solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail


* Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities


* Sense of urgency and bias toward action


* Some travel will be required



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information systems or business management, or related area, plus at least 5 years of progressively responsible technology security/operations experience and at least 1 year of staff supervision experience, and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience. Prior experience working in a professional services firm a plus.
