IT Infrastructure Engineer (12 month fixed term)

Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for the operation of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers and networks. This includes installation, maintenance, upgrade and continuously improving the operating environment, while maintaining secure LAN, WAN and voice systems across the data centres and offices in Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities:

Major duties/responsibilities include:

* Install hardware and software consistent with Chubb SOE.
* Deploying, monitoring, maintaining, upgrading and support of Infrastructure systems including networks, data centres, servers, operating systems, applications and associated hardware.
* Pivotal in the upgrading of existing Windows Server 2008 infrastructure to a more recent OS.
* Assist in the upgrading of Red Hat Linux (RHEL) servers to a more recent OS.
* Assist in the upgrading of DB2 and SQL instances.
* Implement professional best practice security policies.
* Work with third-party vendors and regional IT teams on projects when required.
* Assist in analysing and documenting processes to identify efficiencies through the use of technology.
* Ensure documentation is developed and maintained.
* Complete special projects as assigned by the IT management.
* Take all practical measures to ensure that the workplace and persons under your control are safe and without risk to health.

Experience & Skills Required:

Essential:

* Good analytical skills.

* Strong technical knowledge of Windows 2008 / 2012 / 2016 Server.
* Strong Red Hat Linux skills.
* Technical knowledge of upgrading MS SQL versions.
* Technical knowledge of Windows 7 / 10.
* Sound knowledge of TCP/IP.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
* Knowledge of Wide Area Networking (WAN).
* Tertiary qualifications or 5 year equivalent experience in IT or a related field.
* Desirable:
* Knowledge of DB2.
* Knowledge of Citrix and VMware VDI technology.
* Previous experience in a Financial/Professional Services environment.
* Knowledge of Veeam backup services.
* Automation and scripting skills using PowerShell.
* Cisco UCS experience.
* VMware vSphere.
