The Air Force BM/C2 and Surveillance Division (P460) is seeking a domain-recognized sensor or signal processing engineer experienced in data correlation and fusion who can bring sensor and data processing expertise to bear on AF and related sensor and surveillance programs pursuing modernization, replacement, or exploration of new capabilities to meet emerging threat challenges. The successful candidate will have deep and broad knowledge of sensor systems, with a preference towards radar, with an emphasis on understanding how to correlate and fuse data both within and across sensor types.

Key Functions

This successful candidate will:

Work with the P460 Chief Engineer, the Surveillance and C2 Domain Capability Leads, Project Leaders, and project teams to advise, recommend, and apply solutions that improve AF and other ISR systems ability to deliver timely, accurate surveillance information to the warfighter;

Work with the MITRE Innovation Area Leads and with leads for other internal initiatives to recommend, refine, and promote research and development activities that are directly aimed at improving the capabilities of sensor and surveillance systems;

Lead and assist in efforts to extend outreach and collaboration outside the AF to other DoD Title 10 and Title 50 organizations involved in surveillance activities, their leadership teams, and their technical staff;

Cultivate new relationships between MITRE P460 and select industry partners, and serve as liaison between these organizations and members of the MITRE P460 staff.

Required Qualifications:

Experience with Kalman filtering techniques and Bayesian approaches to fusion are required.

Preference will be given to candidates who have had prior experience designing or modifying correlation/fusion systems for ISR.

In addition to the above qualifications, experience and understanding of most of the following is required--sensor data standards and formats, data links and formats, national capabilities and systems, and experience with air, space or missile surveillance.

Experience with ground surveillance is desired, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines (Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering; Computer Science; or Mathematics; or Physics) and 15 years of related sensor or surveillance experience. The candidate must have the skills needed to operate effectively and collaboratively at multiple levels within the P460 Division organization (i.e., with department and project leadership and with technical staff) and, as appropriate, directly with project sponsor and customer organizations.

This position requires candidate obtain TS level security clearance.
