Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Rolling Meadows, IL location.

The qualified applicant will join a cohort of employees re-entering the workforce after a career break of at least two years. This cohort will receive special on-boarding designed to provide an effective re-entry into the workforce. iReturn℠ provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development and networking opportunities. Qualified applicants will join a cohort of employees returning to the workforce after a 2 career break for this "returnship" program that focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce. This cohort program will approximately run from August - December and prepare candidates for an effective re-entry into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

The Systems Engineering team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a candidate to join a growing community of engineering professionals in the greater Chicago region at the Rolling Meadows, IL site.

The selected candidate will be welcomed into a team aligned to support the Systems Engineering team in one of the following areas.

In Integration & Test, the qualified applicant will evaluate electronics systems from hardware/software design through aircraft installation. Key responsibilities will be to ensure that the systems produced work - and work well. This will involve the creation and execution of Integration, Design Verification Test, and Flight Test plans and procedures. The qualified applicant will be able to apply knowledge and experience in one or more of the following specialties located on-site; Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) and Radio Frequency (RF) systems, sensors/antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, detection and tracking. Tasks can vary in location from on-site activities in one of our Systems Integration Labs (SILs) to activities out in the "field" (test events, ranges, customer sites, etc.) and they can consist across a broad spectrum of environments and complexities.

In System Design, the qualified applicant will support creating and refining Model Based System Engineering products (System behavioral models, Use Case realizations, State Machines, etc.), System and sub-system level specifications in DOORS, including requirements traceability, creation of Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM), verification traceability (tracing requirements to test plans/procedures/results), and system drawings and documents. As a part of the SEIT team, a Systems Design engineer is exposed to the front end Systems Engineering process and coordinates across many disciplines to ensure that the system description and requirements are properly and thoroughly defined and captured. This department also includes Modeling & Simulation engineers. A primary task for a modeling and simulations engineer is development of in-house models and algorithms. Strong domain knowledge combined with valuable software development skills are required to produce the accurate models that drive the critical analysis needed to design our future systems.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
* 4 years professional experience and a current career break of at least two years
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience as a Systems Engineer (Systems Architecture, System Requirement Definition, Integration & Test, etc)
* Working knowledge of data acquisition
* Working knowledge of test automation
* Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python
