Responsibilities

The primary function of the Information Assurance Specialist is to ensure security policies, standards and procedures are implemented in a way that aligns with the Aerospace and Government customer requirements. This position is responsible for supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) activities. This position supports both Aerospace and Government customers within a classified environment.

KEY FUNCTIONS

* Maintains information and data regarding end-user issues within the tracking system and according to policies and standards.
* Reviews, develops, and implements security plans for existing and new computer assets.
* Experience in running compliance and vulnerability tools on systems, to provide risk input to the ISSM.
* Coordinates and performs information security inspections, tests, and reviews.
* Supports the implementation and development of an organizations' IT security.
* Ensures Aerospace and Government security policies, standards and procedures are established and enforced.
* Trains and briefs Aerospace employees on the IS systems. Ensures users have appropriate security clearance and access to information.
* Provide guidance for classified media control.
* Provide technical assessment to the Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
* Knowledge of techniques to perform clearing, purging, declassifying, and releasing of system memory, media, and output.
* Ability to translate complex Aerospace and Government customer requirements into necessary technical and security solutions.
* Conduct evaluation and analysis of software/hardware intended for use on the secured IT assets.
* Approves hardware and software implementations.
* Investigates and reports IS security incidents. Ensures proper protection or corrective measures have been taken.
* Provide initial IA briefings and annual reindoctrinations as appropriate.
* Conduct low to high and high to low file transfers.
* Provide Incident response by investigating and reporting classified messaging incidents.
* Conduct hardware tracking.
* Conduct auditing review and analysis of secure IT assets.
* Coordinate and perform information system security inspections, tests, and reviews.
* Communicate regularly with Aerospace and Government customers to obtain status of requests and facilitate completion of requests.
* Ensure security policies, standards, and procedures are enforced.
* Create and maintain System Security Plan (SPP) and related documentation per IT asset.
* Update and maintain procedures for secure operation of IT assets.
* May train other employees.

Qualifications

Required for Level III

* 5 or more years of Information Assurance or relevant experience with an High School diploma (or equivalent)
* Experience with the assessment and authorization (A&A) process and ability to ensure assets reach full accreditation
* Experience with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), ICD 503, and/or Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG); specifically, the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
* Current TS/SSBI clearance.
* DoD 8570 IAM level Certification

Required for Level IV

* 8 or more years of Information Assurance or relevant experience with High School diploma (or equivalent)
* Experience with the assessment and authorization (A&A) process and ability to ensure assets reach full accreditation
* Experience with National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), ICD 503, and/or Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG); specifically, the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
* Current TS/SSBI clearance
* DoD 8570 IAM level Certification

Preferred

* In-depth knowledge of computer operating systems

* Must possess strong organizational skills
* Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects at one time
* Effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations
* Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
* Must possess time management and project management skills
* Experience with Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and the ability to justify the technical need for applying each setting
* Experience applying technical solutions from NIST 800-53 controls as dictated by RMF
* Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
