UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing critical technology support to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation and discovery at the UW. Enterprise Data & Analytics within UW-IT, provides leadership and support to UW academic and administrative units in delivering institutional data for decision making; manages the Enterprise Data Warehouse, business intelligence systems and tools and data management solutions; provides training.

The Enterprise information, Integration & Analytics (EIIA) unit at the University of Washington (UW) is responsible for enterprise data management solutions, including the data warehouse, enterprise web services, enterprise integration platform, business intelligence and analytics. The unit provides consistent and reliable architectures, guidelines, standards, tools, and services for data analysis, design, modeling, delivery, and integration of institutional data.

EIIA is now hiring an information architect responsible for information architecture, design, and modeling in support of new and existing data integration across its portfolio of enterprise applications.

The emphasis and focus of this position is on the "global view" of UW institutional data, the supporting data architecture and blue-prints for this big-picture view, and the task to translate big-picture view into detailed implementation. The position is cross-cutting, requiring coordination and liaison to internal team roles as well as external groups to ensure broad data integration and business value for UW.

This position requires the ability to understand and align data of native systems quickly and effectively. The incumbent is expected to work in a highly collaborative environment across matrixed organizations, including partners inside and outside of UW-IT.

Requirements:

Bachelors in Information / Library Science, Computer Science, Engineering

A minimum of four years of experience as an architect, developer or analyst, with demonstrable experience in:

Requirements Analysis, Database Management, Dealing with ambiguity, Presenting Technical Information, Problem Solving, and Data Modeling

Demonstrated experience with enterprise data integration principles and techniques

Demonstrated experience designing solutions for complex enterprise integration and reporting challenges

Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.

Desired:

Experience in designing near-real-time systems

Data and systems modeling (logical emphasis; both dimensional and normalized styles), including experience with data modeling tools

Metadata tools, techniques, and standards

Enterprise conceptual modeling

Ability to guide decisions on data delivery methods and supporting data architecture

Excellent collaboration skills

Ability to negotiate and drive effective decision-making with diverse audiences

Strong people skills

Experience leading change management activities as part of ERP system replacement and business transformation

Workday data integration experience

Working with Agile / Scrum development methodologies

Experience in a major research university setting.
