Job Description

This position is responsible for information disseminated though the Immunization Unit website, newsletter, and general publications. Coordinates the production and distribution of electronic and print publications, news updates, national immunization observances, and informational releases through GovDelivery and other systems. Responsible for website content and interacts with DSHS Web Services Office to insure efficiency and effectiveness. The position must evaluate and ensure upkeep of the Immunization Unit website. This position will work with contractors for monitoring and deployment of third-party web hosting sites for media and educational campaigns. This position interacts routinely with Immunization staff of all levels and across all programs. This position works to improve and expand the accessibility and usability of information for Immunization employees and the public. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions:

Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.

40% Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and manages the Immunization Unit websites (internal and external) utilizing the web content management system or other system implemented by the DSHS Web Services Office and adhering to HHSC brand guide, as well as DSHS website guidelines and requirements. Analyzes and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of Immunization Unit website design and layout and provides recommendations for website enhances and improvements. Serves as primary SharePoint administrator, providing expertise with operations, maintenance, and upgrades to a multi-modal SharePoint environment. Coordinates obtaining the illustrative and photographic content needed for the Immunization Website and electronic publications, as necessary. Collaborating with Immunization Unit subject matter experts, ensures that the immunization website contains accurate, up to date information, and is easy to navigate. Develops, edits, and writes programmatic information in plain language and using best usability and accessibility practices for use in websites and publications. Analyzes, monitors, remediates, and ensures the Immunization Unit websites meet DSHS accessibility guidelines and requirements. Performs online metrics tagging and runs analytics reports and profiles. Develops and presents ad hoc reports on website performance and utilization, as necessary.

40% Responsible for all editorial, production, publishing, and distribution of the Immunization Unit newsletter, and other informational releases as necessary. Coordinates with article writers on submission of articles. Proofreads and edits to maintain the quality of releases. Uses available software to format the online newsletter and meets publishing deadlines. Coordinates the preparation and distribution of publications, news, and national immunization observances. Assists other areas of the Immunization Unit with developing, reviewing, and editing programmatic written documents as needed.

15% Assists the media specialist with deployment and monitoring of social media platforms, mobile ready applications, and third-party webs hosting services websites associated with media and other educational campaigns. Performs quality assurance activities on educational campaign websites and webpages developed by contractors, facilitates the transfer source files from the contractor to DSHS, and coordinates the upload of final websites on the servers where they will reside. Distributes and promotes electronic information needed to complete media or educational campaigns.

5% Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligation for disaster response and/or recovery of Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Participation may require an alternative shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Skills in utilizing MS Office Suite.

Skills in using Adobe Creative Suite software, including Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Lightroom, Fireworks, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat.

Skill in designing, developing, editing, and disseminating electronic newsletters and other informational materials.

Ability to design, develop, and launch quality websites and webpages.

Ability to compose and edit content for websites and webpages.

Ability to use website and webpage development software and tools.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to understand and clearly present complex written material for a variety of audiences in plain language.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to create completed written or electronic materials on short notice.

Ability to work with diverse parties to gather needed information and to maintain good working relationships.

* Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
* Experience with designing, developing, or launching websites and webpages
* Experience using website content management systems.
* Experience creating content for online platforms

Full salary range may not be offered due to agency budget constraints. An on-basket exercise will be required at the time of the interview.
