The Information Systems Specialist I reports to the Information Systems Manager. The Specialist I performs installs, maintains, and trouble shoots computer hardware, software, and network software for all staff in the assigned areas. The Specialist I also provides technical, planning, and purchase advice & support for IT services to Program Directors in their areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provides first line computer support to all Thresholds personnel. This includes, but is not limited to, installation, maintenance, repairing, upgrading, and troubleshooting networked and nonnetworked PC workstations, thin clients, and peripherals and Agency‐approved software, such as Microsoft Office products.
* Maintains positive "customer" relationships with all service users.
* Advises Program Directors and facilitate all IT solutions including planning, purchasing, and deploying IT needs. Acts as liaison between IS Department and administrative departments & clinical programs within the assigned area of responsibility.
* Assists with beta testing and workflow review during design and development phases of software projects.
* Provides feedback to supervisor regarding issues with Help Desk software, problem areas with a specific software product, or underlying trends noticed with a particular location or user. Make recommendations for technology improvements, both Agency‐wide and site‐specific.
* Determines when it is appropriate to refer unresolved work orders to senior support personnel or the Department Head.
* Completes required paperwork and reports, such as the help desk work order database, purchasing, and inventory control systems.
* Participates in planning, execution, and delivery of special departmental projects.
* Provides service and support at any assigned Thresholds location. Required to travel to and from these sites. This includes transporting computer hardware, tools, software or other items as needed to perform tasks on site. This position requires the use of a personal vehicle as indicated above.
* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

* Degree in Computer Science and 1 year relevant experience or three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

* TCP/IP networking, including router maintenance is desired.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS in a networked environment.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word and Excel is desired.
* Must have excellent planning, organizing and team‐building skills. Ability to work effectively and in a professional manner with staff at all levels of the organization.

SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS

* Current and valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

* None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office work).
* Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
* The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection.
