Job Description

Overview

The IM Imaging Technical Lead is a senior position primarily responsible for overseeing complex multifaceted computing solutions for the Medical Imaging & Cardiology Departments. This includes the coordination of both hardware and software technology support services between the IM Ancillary Application Team and other technology teams (Network Services, Data Center, Desktop Support/Help Desk).

It should be especially noted that this role, while responsible for server and other workstation technology, also focuses on the end user apects of this technology.

These duties may be performed directly or coordinated with IM Applications teams, external technology and/or service partners. Project and end user activities may include coordination, communication, and other duties as required for success. The IM Imaging Technical Lead is expected to be self-directed and perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

1. Provides consultative services to end users regarding technology, application services and existing infrastructure.

2. Serves as liaison between IM application analysts, IT engineers and vendors to facilitate implementation and support of departmental and enterprise applications.

3. Coordinates and oversees vendor activity in all phases of installation, build, upgrades and support of the Radiological & Cardiological Imaging, PACS, and associated applications.

4. Responsible for collaborating with IT & desktop support teams on PC & workstation configuration requirements for supported applications. Designs, tests, documents and supports end user computers in conjunction with other organizational teams.

5. Develops and documents procedures covering all aspects of departmental & enterprise software and appropriate hardware administration for all ancillary applications and hardware. Oversees maintenance and ensures tasks are completed.

6. In collaboration with the ancillary applications manager, designs & maintains performance monitoring. Also assesses capacity, obsolescence and growth needs.

7. Responsible for day to day imaging operations including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, prefetching, fixing jailed images, folder/work list, rules and other related activities. Monitors application information including but not exclusively HL7 messaging, modality work lists and DICOM queues.

8. Coordinate modality integration, confirming MPPS, measurement mapping, and structured reports with users, HTM and vendors. Verifies all modalities meet the standard DICOM tag requirements.

9. Responsible for implementation, oversight, monitoring and support for HIS/RIS interfaces.

10. Possesses an understanding of storage, high availability/disaster recovery and VNA concepts. Coordinates with IT on support and monitoring. Leads VNA management and use.

Works with the IT & Provisioning teams to configure user access and system security.

Participate in project & support tasks and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Knowledge of relevant server, network and client operating systems and technologies e.g. Microsoft Windows, Linux or other operating system software.

* 1-3 years of experience working with client/server based equipment/operating systems in a complex enterprise network environment.
* 1-3 years experience in working with systems and applications in a client/server environment. Experience with Health Care IT applications, e.g. Epic EMR, GE PACS, Merge, PACS, and other processing applications such as Powerscribe.
* Note: Experience in working with systems in a Citrix/SharePoint computing environment is highly desired.

2. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science (or equivalent work experience).

3. Experience in information systems/technology within a health care provider organization is desired.

4. Excellent time, project management, and system diagnostic skills needed. Strong communication (written and oral), customer service and interpersonal skills, are critical for success in this position.

5. Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential.
