About the team

Ambit Optimist is a comprehensive credit risk management solution, delivering benefits for both credit and risk officers, as well as for front line relationship managers. Ambit Optimist provides commercial bankers with vital financial analysis, business modeling capabilities, and communication tools to build, manage, and sustain a profitable commercial loan portfolio.

The Head of Development will report into the business structure with a dotted-line to the capital markets CTO. Although a strong technical background is a requirement it is equally important that the person understands and appreciate the group's business activities, pressures and financial goals. For that reason, the person should be senior, and business focused enough to sit on the group management committee. They will have direct or dotted-line management responsibility to the heads of development within the business line. This individual also needs to be able to communicate technical strategies and initiatives to client or prospective clients.

What you will be doing

* Drive revenue for the RCCL team
* Ensuring that the product and technology agenda is represented at the executive management level
* Identifying and driving cross-product line synergies and opportunities for improvement in technology utilization and development process
* Moving to fewer and broader technology platforms
* Advising on where we are under investing or over spending in our product platforms
* (Working with Finance) Track development headcount, total spend and spend by category
* Oversight of major projects (e.g. CLO/CLS and CAT)
* Oversight of system architecture and design
* Assessing talent across the entire group development organization. Complete skill/potential reviews and career planning for all senior technology staff
* Identify, and work to close, skill gaps in the development teams
* Growing a strong group of development leaders and mold it into an effective technology management team
* Ensuring that hiring across our development organization is well balanced and effective
* Tracking, analyzing and improving product quality and development efficiency
* Determine investment mix of R&D spend across their portfolio of products
* Drive the long-term capabilities of the underlying technologies and eliminate legacy technologies
* Partner with Product Management to optimize the long and short-term success of the products
* Work effectively with Operations (CIO) to ensure are solutions are cost effective to run and support.
* Stay current with clients and the marketplace. Personally, support strategic pre-sales opportunities and ensure the development team can provide broad support to the pre-sales organization
* Ownership and timely execution of corporate Development initiatives including, but not limited to:

Manage monthly reporting submissions (projects, time-recording etc.) and represent the group on any review calls.

* Attend and be an active participant in the Capital Markets CTO meetings and initiatives
* Arrange and lead regular technology leadership meetings for the business line
* Analyze development Employee Engagement results and be an active participant in designing and executing improvement initiatives
* Support, and where necessary, drive compliance with corporate RISC priorities.
