Description:

Over the years, various ICG technology groups have created a number of facilities (labs) dedicated to technology advancement in support of business demand.

This role is for an experienced Technology professional to be the Global Head of

Markets and Banking Technology's Innovation Labs. The role's primary focus will be to integrate the labs so they operate as a single coherent unit, driving ICG technology strategy delivering high quality, innovative and cost effective solutions in order to meet the needs of our clients and the business.

Responsibilities:

Culture of Collaboration, Partnership and Delivery

* Maintain close trust- and results-based partnership with ICG business and technology leaders across CIB/TTS/Markets/Private Bank to ensure the Lab delivers expertise and solutions required to address of tactical and strategic business and technology challenges


* Manage executive stakeholder audience by acting as a partner, trusted advisor and operating through influence


* Establish a clear and transparent BOW prioritization and management discipline across both R&D and ICG Business delivery lines of work


* Create ICG SMT bound reporting structure covering both backlog, delivery and measurable direct business benefits


* Liaison with Citi Ventures to support its initiatives, including D10X projects, by supplying necessary expertise and resources; influence external and internal technology investment decisions


* Define and maintain a clear prototype/POC delivery handover process from the lab to the business-aligned technology units making sure the knowledge and expertise transfer is planned and executed in timely manner


* Create a flexible project and domain rotation/deliver-and-forget mechanism to avoid burn-out and long-term project commitments


* Partner with CATE engineering projects and EE programs and influence ICG technology leadership to ensure the technology development strategies are aligned


* Provide mentorship, motivation and guidance, ensuring that the lab teams are fully aware of the business context across regions as well as the technology impacts and trends within ICG


* Ensure the lab locations operate in atmosphere of free engineering spirit, true cooperation and collaboration, maximizing knowledge sharing and minimizing work duplication, R&D, Client outreach and awareness


* Instill a culture of intellectual challenge, curiosity and collaboration; stimulate organic growth of knowledge and skill set breadth in both the labs and ICG tech community


* Create a continuous education and skill-set development framework to ensure that the lab staff understands and has practical knowledge of / hands-on experience with latest technology and science trends


* Establish the Lab as the default source for ICG business, operations and technology community to understand how technology can be used to address specific business cases


* Create new and/or support existing ICG information sharing channels - technology forums, speaker series, online posts etc. - to disseminate the gained knowledge and expertise to ICG technology, operations and business community


* Client outreach: maintain regular Citi-to-client events - inviting both Client technology and business teams - covering the top results of the lab work, sharing insights, soliciting feedback and collaborating on potential joint projects - all in support of "Be the Best for Our Clients" strategy


* Host tech meet-ups with technology vendors, open source community and peer tech teams from Financial services and other industries with the goal of sharing lessons learned, practical experiences


* Create a dedicated marketing structure to provide regular updates to ICG business leadership up-to-date with latest technology/science trends - opportunities they provide, business impact and strategic industry shifts



Administration and Management:

* Responsible for all aspects of a large global distributed technology organization management under standard Citigroup guidelines and practices, specifically around financial, regulatory and compliance goals


* Create a robust hiring process to ensure top engineering quality the new hires and strive to achieve a low attrition rate, given the high cost and impact of the attracted talent


* Advocate for and procure funding for cross-location travel, event hosting, education and development costs such as software licenses and trials



Qualifications

Skills

* Global/large organization management - financial discipline/budgeting, hiring, diversity and talent management, BOW management, executive reporting, resource allocation, regional labor/regulatory risk mitigation, vendor management


* Technology background - must demonstrate progression from hands-on development to complete delivery of enterprise mission critical platforms to enterprise architecture-like role in a large bank or a financial institution


* Hands-on experience with public cloud offerings such as AWS, GCP, Azure



An expert level knowledge of the following technologies, included but not limited to:

* Major modern operating systems - Linux, Windows, iOS, Android


* Machine (deep) learning concepts and frameworks


* Backend runtimes - Node.JS, JVM, UWP/.NET - with focus on concurrency and performance


* Databases - RDMS, NoSQL (column bases, document base, key stores etc.), distributed databases, map/reduce based products


* Programming language designs and fluent on major functional and object oriented languages


* Networking stack and its use in low-latency application


* Cloud stack - IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, Data Lake architecture (ODL/ODC)


* Streaming platforms data flows, Serverless computing
